Hi, I’m Manika.

A homeschooling mother, academic writer, lifelong learner, and someone who believes childhood should feel joyful, curious, creative, and deeply human.

A letter to Mothers

Dear Mothers,

I never imagined that motherhood would make me question education so deeply.

Like most parents, I believed school was simply the path every child followed. But when my daughter started kindergarten, I quietly began noticing things that did not sit right with me. The learning felt rushed, repetitive, and burdened with pressure far too early. I saw children spending their days trying to keep up with expectations while slowly losing the freedom and joy that childhood is meant to hold.

And somewhere in all this, I found myself asking a simple question — does learning really have to feel this heavy?

But choosing differently was not easy either.

Homeschooling felt uncertain and overwhelming in the beginning. I had doubts, fears, and more questions than answers. So I started researching quietly, reading endlessly, and trying to understand what meaningful education could truly look like, especially in the Indian context where homeschooling still feels unfamiliar to many families.

Slowly, our home began to change.

Learning no longer lived only inside books and notebooks. Some lessons still happen at a study table with discipline and routine, but many others happen while cooking together, reading stories, painting, travelling, talking, listening to music, or simply wondering about the world. There are books beside toys, unfinished craft projects around the house, and questions flowing through almost every conversation we have.

It is not a perfect system, but it feels peaceful, alive, and deeply human.

This space was born somewhere in the middle of that journey.

Not because I have all the answers, but because I know there are mothers out there carrying the same doubts I once carried. Mothers searching for something gentler, more meaningful, and more aligned with the kind of childhood they dream of for their children.

At Momming with Pride, I hope to create a thoughtful space for Indian parents to explore homeschooling, parenting struggles, childhood challenges, and learning beyond pressure and performance. A place where curiosity matters more than rote learning, where children are allowed to grow slowly and meaningfully, and where parents can find clarity without judgement.

More than anything, I hope this space feels like companionship.

Whether you are only questioning the system, seriously considering homeschooling, or already walking this path, I hope you leave here feeling a little lighter, a little clearer, and a little more confident in listening to your own instincts as a parent.

With warmth,
Manika
